Presentation

Points Of Interest

Purpose

  • Introduce the child to the idea of irregular shapes.
  • Provide further experience of matching.
  • Develop language.

Variation

The cards are placed with the white side facing up. The child sorts the shapes into sets of straight sides, curved sides and those with both straight and curved sides. Then they may turn the control cards over to check.

Do this with a set of cards at one time. Try to match the shapes with the cards. Then turn over the control card to check.

The children sort the cards into:
Triangles, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombus, trapezoid, trapezium, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon.
